Swimming Pool Ionization

Tarn-PureTM silver/copper ionization systems have been installed on commercial and private swimming pools for over 20 years both in the Europe, the USA and Japan. The system is simple to install and maintain and allows the level of chlorine in the pool to be drastically reduced (in some pools chlorine is not used at all) and this has many benefits:
  • Reduction in eye and skin irritation
  • Reduction in chlorine/chloramine smell in the pool building
  • Reduction in smell reduces the need to change the air in the building and saves energy costs on heating and ventilating
  • Reduction in chlorine vapour levels reduces corrosion in the building.
  • Less chemical storage on site
  • Savings on swimming pool supplies
The benefits shown above will also apply to spa pools, hydrotherapy and jacuzzi pools, pools used for dolphins and horse exercise pools.

For more than twenty seven years, the swimming pools of St. Vith
(28 C.) have been kept clean and disinfected through the means of copper/silver ionization, without any addition of chlorine and with the full support of local sanitation authorities.

Swimming pool ionization systems can be fitted to existing pools as well as installed with new pools.

Because none or far fewer chemicals are used with an ionization system, the water in the pool stays bright and lively longer, and is easier to maintain in a good, balanced condition.

The Tarn-PureTM Silver/Copper ionization system injects low levels of silver and copper into the pool water that are within European drinking water standards so represents no risk to health.

In private pools?
This completely chlorine-free technique allows you to do without all poisonous chemical products, like chlorine and algaecides, in your own private pool.

In public pools?
In 1997, in Brooklyn, Massachusetts, USA, a scientific study was undertaken over a period of several months, to document the effectiveness of copper/silver ionization (Tarn Pure System) in public swimming facilities. The results indicated that the use of copper/silver ionization, combined with small amounts of chlorine, produces a far faster, longer-lasting and more effective level of disinfection than that seen using the traditional chlorine-only method, due to the incredible (and unexpected) synergetic effect of the ionization process.
Using these techniques, public swimming pools can reduce their use of chlorine by up to 80% and achieve a reduction of their output of toxic trihalomethanes by up to 150%. Although the use of chlorine disinfection still continues in the treatment of swimming pools in Europe there exist, in Belgium (St. Vieth and Leuwen) and France, public swimming pools which, for already more than twenty years, have been disinfected solely by copper/silver ionization.
